OUR LOCATION

PEClab

  • Physical space for students and researchers (desks, chairs, computers, internet access, air conditioning) and special space for the realization of experiments (60m2).
  • Power installations: three-phase power supply, energy meters and electrical protections.
  • Bibliographical resources: the university provides access to some books, journals and theses.
  • Four operative electric vehicles for experiments: i) Chevrolet S-10, ii) Suzuki Maruti, iii) Chevrolet Luv, and iv) Mitsubishi Lancer.
  • 24 traction lead-acid batteries for laboratory experiments. Lithium-ion batteries.
  • 6 ultracapacitor packs, each one, 160 Farads and 48 Vdc.
  • 3 ultracapacitors, each one, 15F and 23Vdc.
  • A four quadrant power inverter donated by ABB.
  • A test bank for rotating machines and traction motors.
  • Four 3kW induction machines for laboratory tests.
  • Seven brushless synchronous motors for laboratory research (1x5kW, 2x7kW, 1x15kW, 2x21kW and 1x54kW).
  • Many special tools (e.g. tools for crimping power wires) and some useful material, such as aluminum, cooper, iron, screws, glue, rubber.
  • Temperature regulated welding tools, circular teeth saw, winch and milling machine.
  • A 500 amps probe for oscilloscope.
  • Two four channel oscilloscope with digital memory and full color (Agilent: HD LCD and non-isolated channels / Tektronicx: isolated channels).
  • Four current probes and 4 voltage probes for oscilloscopes.
  • Other digital instruments such as digital “true rms” multimeters, capacity meters, meggers.
  • Several Microcontrollers as Microchip PIC, dsPIC, PIC32 and Digital Signal Processors (DSP).
  • Three special industrial controllers, one AC-800PEC and two PEC80, donated by ABB.
  • One programmable battery charge.
  • Power resistors for electric experiments (power loads).
  • A specialized location at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, with big tools to make special mechanical pieces that will be required for specific applications as electric vehicles.
