Binary neural networks for modular multilevel cascade converters.
Partner: Hochschule Muenchen
Duration: 2023 – 2026
This Chilean-German project seeks to pioneer the use of binary neural networks (BNNs) in power electronics systems, specifically targeting enhancements in the performance and reliability of modular multilevel cascade converters (MMCCs). The project aims to leverage BNNs for various functions, including modulation, observation, fault detection, and fault-tolerant control in MMCCs, while assessing their feasibility in FPGA-based real-time systems. Research will be conducted collaboratively between Hochschule München in Germany and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
