Fast Charger for Electric Vehicles Based on Independent Second Life Lithium Battery Modules: Enabling Technology for Smart Charge Management and Flexible Use of Electric Infrastructure
Partner Company: Andes Electronics and MIDE.
Duration: 2023 – 2025
Fast charging for electric vehicles is a global reality and an emerging trend. Currently, standards for charging trucks and heavy vehicles with several megawatts are being developed. This project aims to create a modular power charger that is easily scalable, facilitating the integration of multi-megawatt chargers. The charger utilizes a triple-active-bridge converter with a high-frequency transformer, which reduces size and weight while enhancing charging efficiency. Additionally, the charger incorporates second-life battery packs internally, allowing for increased output power without overloading the electrical grid.
